Just Keep Baking #57 Strawberry Puppy Chow

Sul Sul, gerbits! Today we are going to be making a very simple recipe. But, despite it’s name… please *Camera closes up on Dori’s face* Please don’t feed this to your dog. It is not for them. Okay… After that PSA I want to tell you what we are making today. We are going to be making Strawberry Puppy chow.

The first thing you are going to is separate out your cereal into 2 large bowls. 3 cups each.

Next you are going to combine your cake mix and powdered sugar in a medium sized bowl.

In a smaller microwave safe bowl, you are going to microwave the red candy melts at 1 minute increments. Or whatever the package might say. You want the consistency to be smooth when you stir.

Pour the red candy over one of the bowl of chex mix and stir to coat the cereal as best you can.

Next you are going to add the cake mix to the red chex cereal.

Now, we are going to microwave the white candy melts the same way we did the red candy. For 1 minute increments. You want a smooth consistency.

Pour this mixture over the other half of the chex mix.

Add the cake mix.

Now in a large container you are going to combine your red chex, white chex, m&m’s and sprinkles. And mix them all together.  

The recipe says that it can stay in an air tight container for at least 2 days. This sentence makes me laugh. When you have a big family and they all love puppy chow to begin with. You will be lucky if it makes it to 2 days. This is one of those dishes that is supper easy and it goes so fast.

but this shit is addicting soooooo 🤷🏼 here’s how to make it!! 🖤

you only need 6 ingredients :3

i usually make the chocolate part in a saucepan on the stove (you can also do it in the microwave), other than that you need some gallon ziploc bags, a large bowl, measuring cups, and a spatula/mixing utensil :))

essentially you just melt down the butter, chocolate chips, and peanut butter on low until it’s all smooth. then add the vanilla in after it’s off the heat (so it doesn’t evaporate out!)

then you add the chocolate mixture into the large bowl with the cereal and combine. after that, you mix it all up with powered sugar in some ziploc bags

then viola! puppy chow!!! 🐶💜💙

Generation B - Briella’s Winterfest Baking 12: Puppy Chow (A.K.A. Muddy Buddies)

Sul Sul, Gerbits. Today we will be making a recipe that I got from my mom, every Christmas we make this snack. The only thing I can say about this recipe is that it has a few different names: Muddy Buddies, Puppy Chow, or white trash. All are the same thing.  My family has always called it Puppy chow because it looks like something a dog eats, but PLEASE do not feed your dog this, it has chocolate in it.

You can find the measurements for the ingredients in the description below. Gerbits, make sure that you have: any type of Chex cereal. I usually make it with the rice cereal, this year I made it with the Honey cereal, and it tasted different, in a good way. You are also going to need: chocolate chips, peanut butter, butter, vanilla, and powdered sugar.

With this recipe,

I usually use the full box of Cereal, so that we don’t have the cereal that no one will eat in the pantry.

I also tend to use the full bag of chocolate chips, because why not.

I put in the right amount of peanut butter

butter

vanilla.

The recipe says to microwave the chocolate, butter, and peanut butter. However, I like melting this mixture in a double-boiler on medium heat. However, this year I used the Instant Pot as a double boiler. It was a lot faster, the only problem I had with it was; it was too tall. I had to stand on a chair to stir the chocolate. 

 After that is all melted together, you are going to take it off of heat. And stir in vanilla. 

In the bowl with the cereal,add the melted chocolate after that is fully coated. You are going to add the powdered sugar. Place it in the refrigerator, and eat it later. Or eat it right away. 

Even though I make this recipe with a full box of chex cereal, this is usually gone in two days. People would always go into the kitchen and grab some puppy chow. Kinda like how these two behind me are doing. Well, I hope you liked this video. Be sure to like, and subscribe. Vadish, Dag Dag!
